Frequently asked questions

How do I book with JKECH?

Write to us on WhatsApp or by email with your dates, number of guests and what you need. We reply within 24 hours with a proposal and a quote. The booking is confirmed with a deposit.

Which payment methods?

Bank transfer and card. A rental contract sets out the conditions, the security deposit and the included services.

Do rates include meals?

Villa rental and full board are two separate lines of the quote, so you choose the formula. Shabbat only is possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

It is in the contract and depends on the period (festivals have specific conditions). We send it to you before any payment.

Do I need a visa for Morocco?

Not for French, British, Belgian, Swiss, Canadian, American and Israeli citizens for a tourist stay under 90 days. Valid passport required.

Are there direct flights from Tel Aviv?

Yes, several airlines fly Tel Aviv – Marrakech. From London, Paris, Brussels and Geneva, direct flights are plentiful.

Can we come with a baby?

Yes: cot, high chair, nanny, purées and formula on request. Tell us the age for pool safety.

Do the villas have wifi and air conditioning?

Yes, all of them. Fibre in most, TV with French and Israeli channels.

What happens if there is a problem during the stay?

A JKECH contact is reachable 24/7. Breakdown, delayed flight, extra meal: we handle it.

Villas in Marrakech

How much does a villa in Marrakech cost?

It depends on the house, dates and length. A 3-bedroom villa off season and a 19-suite estate over Pesach are worlds apart. Send your dates and guest count: the quote is precise and without surprises.

Do the villas have a heated pool?

The vast majority, yes. It is stated on each villa page. Outside summer, ask for pool heating; it is sometimes included.

Can we rent for a weekend only?

Yes, outside festival periods. A Shabbat from Friday to Sunday is a common format.

Are babies and young children welcome?

Yes: cots, high chairs, nanny on request. Pools are not always fenced: tell us the children’s ages so we propose the right house.

Apartments in Marrakech

Are the apartments close to the synagogue?

Yes, about 10 minutes on foot from Beth El (boulevard Zerktouni, Guéliz). It is one of our selection criteria.

Can we eat kosher without cooking?

Yes: the kosher restaurants of rue de Yougoslavie are minutes away, and our kosher meals can be delivered to the apartment.

How many guests?

The apartments host 2 to 4 guests (1 bedroom + living room). For more, see our villas or combine two apartments.

Is there parking?

Depending on the residence. Tell us if you rent a car; otherwise the JKECH driver or taxis are more than enough in Guéliz.

Shabbat in Marrakech

Can we book Shabbat only?

Yes. Many families book from Friday to Sunday. Shabbat meals are delivered on Friday and you can add full board for the rest of the stay.

Where are the services?

Beth El (boulevard Zerktouni, Guéliz) for the community, Lazama in the mellah for history. On some estates a minyan can be organised on site for groups.

What are Shabbat times in Marrakech?

They vary with the season (candle lighting around 5:30 pm in winter, after 7:30 pm in summer). We send you the exact times for your dates.

Can meals be strictly kosher (glatt, chalav Yisrael)?

State your level: we adapt the caterer and products, and tell you what is possible for each request.

Passover in Marrakech

What are the dates of Pesach 2027?

The Seder is on the evening of 21 April 2027. Our Pesach 2027 stays in Marrakech run from 20 April to 2 May, with arrivals possible a few days earlier.

Can we come for part of the festival only?

Yes, subject to availability: first days, Chol Hamoed or last days. Full weeks have priority.

Who supervises Pesach kashrut?

The full-board kitchen is supervised by the Beth Din of Casablanca. We send you the certificate and film the kashering on request.

How many guests for an estate?

From 12 to 40 guests depending on the estate. For a single family, a villa of 5 to 7 suites is enough.

Sukkot in Marrakech

Do you provide the sukkah?

Yes. Building, schach, decoration, table and chairs are included in the Sukkot formula. It is ready before the festival.

Can we sleep in the sukkah?

Depending on the house and the weather, yes for those who wish. Tell us so we plan the size of the sukkah.

Do the villas take large groups for Sukkot?

Yes: multi-villa estates with a large shared sukkah and services on site.

What is the weather at Sukkot in Marrakech?

Late September-October: 25 to 30 °C by day, 15 °C at night, very little rain. Ideal for eating outside.

Jewish holidays in Marrakech

Which holidays do you organise?

All of them: Pesach, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah, Hanukkah, Purim, as well as family Shabbatot (Shabbat chatan, bar mitzvah).

Is there a programme with speakers like in hotels?

No. Our formula is a private house for your family or group. A rav can accompany the festival on request for large groups.

How far ahead should we book a holiday?

Pesach: 6 to 12 months. Sukkot and Tishrei: 3 to 6 months. Hanukkah and Shavuot: 2 to 3 months. Outside holidays, a few days are enough.

Are children kept busy during the holiday?

Nanny and activity leaders on request, pools, sports grounds and playgrounds in most estates, Chol Hamoed excursions.

Activities and excursions in Marrakech

Are the excursions private?

Yes: private vehicle with driver, private guide, timings chosen by you. No mixed groups.

How do we eat kosher on an excursion?

Kosher packed lunch prepared by our kitchen, or kosher dinner served in a private tent in Agafay. On return, dinner awaits at the villa.

What can we do with young children?

Camels in the Palm Grove, Oasiria, tree-top adventure, horse riding, Ourika (easy), and the villa pool. A nanny can come along.

Is Essaouira doable in a day?

Yes: 2h30 each way, early start, medina, port, Haim Pinto synagogue and Bayt Dakira, back for dinner. Also possible with an overnight stay.

Kosher catering in Marrakech

Can we see the certificate?

Yes. We send you the current certificate of the kitchen and partner caterers. Certificates change: always check the date.

Do you deliver outside your villas?

Depending on distance and the kitchen available on site, yes. The venue kitchen can be kashered beforehand.

Do you do glatt / chalav Yisrael / pat Yisrael?

State your level: we tell you what is possible and adapt products and caterer.

How much notice to order?

Shabbat meals: 48-72 h. Full board: when booking the stay. Wedding or large event: several weeks, with a tasting.

Kosher restaurants in Marrakech

Are kosher restaurants open on Shabbat?

No. Friday night and Saturday, meals are taken at the villa or apartment: JKECH delivers Shabbat meals on Friday.

Do we need to book?

During festivals and French and Israeli school holidays, yes. We can book for you.

Which kashrut do these restaurants have?

It is displayed in each establishment and can change. We tell you what the local community frequents, but the certificate of the day remains the reference.

Are there kosher restaurants in the medina?

No, they are in Guéliz. For lunch in the medina, plan a kosher packed lunch prepared by our kitchen.

Jewish wedding in Marrakech

How far ahead?

Ideally 8 to 12 months for a wedding, 3 to 6 months for a bar mitzvah. Estates go early in spring and autumn.

Is a wedding in Marrakech recognised?

The religious ceremony is celebrated by your rabbi. For the civil marriage, most couples marry in their own country before or after. We point you in the right direction.

Can we have a band and dance late?

Yes in private estates without close neighbours; it is one of our selection criteria.

What if it rains?

It rarely rains in Marrakech, but every estate we propose has a covered fallback (hall, patio, tent).

Synagogues and Jewish heritage of Marrakech

Can we attend services in Marrakech?

Yes, at Beth El (Guéliz), especially on Shabbat and festivals. Contact the community or ask us for the timings on your dates.

Is Lazama open to visitors?

Yes, daily except Shabbat and festivals, with an entrance contribution. Head covering for men.

Is there a mikveh in Marrakech?

Yes, run by the community. We put you in touch for timings and access.

How many Jews live in Marrakech today?

A small community, a few dozen families, very welcoming to visitors, around Beth El.

Kosher stay in Marrakech: the JKECH method

Who does JKECH work for?

Families and groups from France, Israel, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and the United States, observant or traditional, for stays of 3 days to 3 weeks.

Do we need to rent a car?

Not necessarily: private driver, transfers and taxis cover most needs. Villas are 10-25 minutes from the centre.

Do you speak Hebrew and English?

Yes: French, Hebrew, English and Arabic.

When is the best time for Marrakech?

October to May. Winter is mild (20 °C by day), spring ideal. Summer is hot but villas with pools stay pleasant.
